Masterson’s Pub , nestled in the bustling area of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my latest trip at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I experienced behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.

The floorboards were filthy, and a nauseating aroma of old alcohol and uncleaned toilets suffused the entire pub. Reeking of a mixture of human waste, old age and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and trash that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The bathroom was in even a more revolting state —overflowing , with a shattered handle and walls stained in what I can only assume was human waste .

From reading other reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the level of hygiene (or lack thereof) at this so-called check out this information establishment is a persistent problem .
